Introduction
The Garment Counter is a device for scanning, counting and verifying hanging garments either at dispatch from the suppliers or at intake to the distribution warehouse. Previously, the counting and checking of hanging garments was a laborious process whereby each garment had to be manually counted and scanned with a barcode reader. This process was done by the supplier to confirm what garments were being sent and then again at the distribution warehouse to confirm what garments had been received. Manual counting and scanning rates are usually around 5-600 garments per hour for a single operator.
The patented Genus Garment Counter greatly improves this task with a throughput of 6000 garments scanned and counted per hour, in addition it also removes onto a reject chute any garment that can't be scanned due to a faulty or missing barcode label.
Information from each scan is loaded onto a file which is then transferred to the customers host system. This often means that the garments only need to be scanned once before leaving the supplier with the file of scanned garments being sent direct to the distribution warehouse to tell them what is arriving. The accuracy of the information being sent means that only the occasional quality control check is necessary on receipt at the warehouse.
